Ayia Napa
The Holy Monastery of Panagia Ayia Napa hosts the "Saint Epiphanios" Cultural Academy in its premises and is a place with a rich past.
Archaeological excavations were carried out at the Monastery in 2019 by the Department of Antiquities, which brought to light important findings.
Recent excavations at the Monastery contribute significantly to the re-evaluation of the monument. The findings discovered during the excavations undertaken by the Department of Antiquities, Cyprus, will be exhibited in the Museum that will be hosted in the newly designed museum spaces.
The project for the creation of the Museum and for the restoration, enhancement, and promotion of the Monastery of Ayia Napa is being carried out by the Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta, the Municipality of Ayia Napa, and the Cultural Academy “Saint Epiphanius,” in collaboration with an international scientific team.
The Museum will be open to the public in 2026. It will host permanent exhibits, which will allow the visitor to discover the history of the Monastery of Ayia Napa and aspects of history, culture, daily life and of the economy of Cyprus, also through interactive, multimedia and digital applications.
Temporary exhibitions organized by the Academy will also be presented.
