The "Saint Epiphanios" Cultural Academy presents the temporary exhibition “An Illustrious Place.” The Holy Monastery of the Apostle Barnabas. History – Legacy – Exilededicated to the enduring presence and significance of the Holy Monastery of the Apostle Barnabas from the earliest Christian centuries to the present day.

The place is closely connected with the history, identity, and heritage of Cyprus, having experienced periods of prosperity and flourishing, as well as abandonment, hardship, and exile, reflecting the island’s transformations and challenges throughout the centuries.

Approaching the monastery as a place of people, both known and anonymous, the exhibition highlights its role as a center of worship and faith, history, and creativity. Over its long history, every presence, every testimony, and every trace of life contributes a tile to the mosaic that forms the complex and deeply experiential narrative of the monastery, emphasizing its lasting significance as a spiritual and cultural landmark.

Through rare artifacts, archival and photographic material, historical and personal testimonies, artistic interventions, and audiovisual applications, presented across ten interconnected thematic sections, visitors follow a multilayered journey linking time, place, and people.

The exhibition serves as a cultural platform for memory and dialogue, shaping meaningful narrative and intellectual experiences that reveal the spiritual and cultural legacy of the Monastery of the Apostle Barnabas and its significance for the historical consciousness of Cyprus.
