International Conference on the Hagiography of Cyprus
At the International Conferences on the Hagiography of Cyprus, topics covering periods and aspects of Cypriot Hagiography (Theology, History, Literature, Palaeography, Art, Archaeology, Architecture, Law, Music, Folk Studies) are examined by scholars from Cyprus and abroad. The Conferences are bi-anual.
The goal of the International Conferences on the Hagiography of Cyprus is the systematic examination of the spiritual wealth. of the so-called "island of saints" to the Christian world.
The first International Conference, organized in 2008, was dedicated to Saint Epiphanios of Constantia. ..
From 2012 to 2024, the Metropolis of Constantia and Ammochostos, along with the "Saint Epiphanios" Cultural Academy, has organized six International Conferences on Hagiography focusing on specific themes. These conferences examined the Byzantine period of the Hagiography of Cyprus, Cypriot Hagiography during the Latin and Ottoman rule, the veneration of ecumenical saints in Cyprus, the veneration of the Virgin Mary, and the veneration of the Holy Cross in Cyprus. The most recent, seventh conference addressed the veneration of Angels, Prophets, and Apostles in Cyprus.
The papers presented are published in the Proceedings Volumes.
